1st Day of School

Caleb headed off to 2nd grade this morning.
Eli went to his first day of Kindergarten this afternoon.
You can't tell from their faces, but Eli is actually WAY more excited to start school than Caleb is.
And, yes, Caleb does his own hair.

Marcus was NOT happy about being left behind.
He seems ready with his backpack,
but maybe someone should tell him about Diamond Canyon's dress code.

A special Oreo shake for an after the 1st Day of School Snack.

Yeah, Caleb's not too excited to be back in school. He says he's "not going to be challenged enough."

The BIG 8

Turning 8 has been really exciting for Caleb!
First, we celebrated his birthday with a family party at Peter Piper Pizza.
He brought his good buddy, Braxton.

Caleb requested a cheesecake for his birthday.

Doesn't sound too hard, I thought.
Then, he adds, "decorated like Leonardo the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle."
Oh Boy!
First of all, you usually don't frost a cheesecake.
Secondly, I'm not an artist! (at all)
Here's what I came up with.

He was pretty happy with it, and that's all I cared about!
Not super professional looking, but it worked!

Then, came Caleb's baptism. He had lots of family and friends to support him on this important day.

Grandpa & Grandma Great (Heap)

Great Grandma Cooper

Both Grandpa Martinsen & Grandpa Johnson gave great talks during the event.
Grandpa Martinsen commented that Heavenly Father will often expect more from us than we think we can handle. But, He knows that we are perfectly capable and ready. (or something to that effect)
What a good thing to remember throughout life.
Heavenly Father DOES know us... much better than we even know ourselves.
And, we can do so much more with His help than we can do on our own.
I hope Caleb will always remember this day, when he decided to follow Jesus Christ's example.
