Annular Solar Eclipse

We got to witness the "Ring of Fire"! It was really cool to see. 

Since we didn't have any special glasses, we had to make due with some super scientific materials called paper.

"An annular solar eclipse occurs when the Moon's apparent diameter is smaller than the Sun, causing the Sun to look like an annulus (ring), blocking most of the Sun's light. This is also known as Ring of Fire."

Ryan completed his first triathlon. It was a sprint distance held at Tempe Town Lake. Caleb and I got up early to cheer him on!

This year the boys and I made mini-apple pies in your honor.
They were quite delicious, if I do say so myself.

Free Swingset!

Our neighbors were moving and told us that we could have the swing set if we wanted it. Said they didn't want to have to deal with moving it. We soon found out why. The thing was soo heavy. Ryan was a good sport, mostly, and put it together for me anyway. The boys have loved it! We put a little plastic pool at the bottom and spray the slide with the hose for fun in the sun.

Violin Recital

At Diamond Canyon, Caleb's elementary school, the begin learning the basics of violin in 3rd grade during music class. I had no idea until a notice came home in his backpack towards the end of the year one announcing a violin recital! What a pleasant surprise. They had full orchestra pieces of music playing in the background while the students added their violin music.
