YeeHaw!

The boys usually have two field trips per school year. Each year, I volunteer to chaperon one field trip for each boy. Lucky Ryan had the day off and rode the bus with Caleb to Rawhide for some old west fun!

Floating the Verde

Ryan took Caleb and Eli to float a small section on the Verde River. They put in near Camp Verde and canoed down a few miles. I came with the other boys and picked them up. We played around for a while and had dinner before heading home.
They had so much fun. The boys were a bit scared, including Ryan, because the flow was a lot faster and higher than predicted. After the first 1/4 mile, Ryan called to the boys, "We forgot to say a prayer guys." Eli answered, "Don't worry I said one." Then, Caleb, "I already said one too."

BMX

Caleb decided he'd like to try BMX racing this year. He ended up really liking it and bringing home a few trophies. He's really working hard and being very determined!

Pine Wood Derby

This year at the Pinewood Derby, Caleb took 2nd place overall! During the "warm up" we discovered that Eli's car was actually faster than Caleb's. Eli graciously let Caleb use his car for the races since he's still 7 and not technically a scout yet.
Afterward, Grandpa and Grandma Johnson treated us to Baskin Robins ice cream.

Ryan went with some guys from work on a fly fishing trip on the San Juan River in New Mexico. He had such a great time and came home with lots of "fish tales".

Superstar

Caleb and Eli both participated in Diamond Canyon's Math Superstars Program. Each week they had to do a challenging math worksheet at home, in addition to their regular homework. Caleb was chosen as a representative for his grade level in the Superstars Math Bee. He had to do one final worksheet in 30 minutes. He worked hard and got some great prizes. Way to go Caleb! And, he said math was his worst subject!
*can you tell Nolan is DONE! try keeping an 18 month old quiet in a school library for an hour. not fun*

Go Tigers!

Eli wanted to play basketball for the first time this season and Ryan decided to be a coach for the first time. Eli's got a lot of drive. He's so intense while playing, it's fun to watch.
