I wrapped up some foil dinners and Ryan prepared everything for his famous dutch oven pineapple upside down cake. On the way to the lake, we passed a kettle corn stand, backed up, bought some and proceeded to the lake. We were all glad we had an appetizer. Waiting for coals to heat up can take a while. The boys and I saw a little path and hiked through the spring desert for a bit, then came back to throw rocks in the water. The boys played some sort of battle with sticks while waiting for our dinner. Marcus' stick was a "swinger mace".
The next morning, we were back at it. Ryan was organizing the garage while the boys and I planted a garden. Grandpa Martinsen had given us some items to grow a "garden in a bucket". We've had it for at least 6 months and finally put it to use. Maybe next year we'll build a permanent garden area, but hopefully this will work well for now. I've killed many a plant, so I hope this time will yield us some good veggies.
